TORY + PETER'S REAL WEDDING, PARLIAMENT BUILDINGS STORMONT
We love Tory and Peter's wedding day. It’s infused with love, grace and one of the most extraordinary new wedding venues. From finding that dream wedding venue, to trying on an unexpected wedding dress, the least predictable paths provided the biggest surprises for Tory and Peter. Classic wedding days like this never go out of style.
I picked a few dresses to try on, although they were all beautiful, I just didn't have those feelings. The sales assistant said she had just got a new dress in and she thought it would be perfect for my shape. I said I would try anything, i wanted to stay really open minded. The dress was pretty but i wouldn't have picked it. So i put it on walked out and i felt beautiful! My mum loved it too. I thought; this is the one. Pete designed everything himself. He wanted a blue suit, he picked the cut. He wanted a lavender tie to match the bridesmaids and a blue tie for the grooms party. He wanted his style to be very dapper and classy so he chose tie pins and collar pins for the party. I bought him a pocket watch to complete his look as a wedding present.
We had looked at various venues and each one we loved for different reasons but we couldn't find one we loved everything about. The search continued and my frustration grew as I searched for the perfect venue to really set the tone for our special day. My dad suggested Stormont Parliament Buildings, I didn't even know that was an option, so, we organised a viewing and both fell in love! The building is not only architecturally stunning but unique, it won our hearts with the added bonus that my husbands great grand-father helped build Stormont. We knew from the moment we saw it, we had found the perfect venue.
Once we had found the venue it really set the tone for the rest of the styling. Stormont Buildings are so grand, in order to really do the building justice the theme of the day would be regal elegance. This helped me design the invitations which where completed by JC design. This company printed all of our stationary including menu cards and order of services. For me the flowers needed to compliment the day, not overpower everything. My bridesmaids had beautiful white hydrangea and i had white roses with purples to tie in with the bridesmaids. The table centres where similar with hydrangea and roses. The church was kept quite simple with baby's breath wound round candle poles which exist in the church and hydrangea hanging on ribbon as pew ends. The table centres where very high as the ceiling in the building is so high i thought something flat would be lost. I designed my own table setting which featured a menu card sprig of lavender and gold ribbon. The details added to the overall feel but i tried to keep things to a minimum as the venue is too amazing to draw attention away from.
