An Autumnal Wedding At Larchfield Estate
With a bevy of talented pals to help bring together this special shindig, Katrina's and Conor's wedding day is full of tricks and treats.
The Vibe With Autumn in the air, it was only natural that the fun factor of Halloween be included throughout our wedding. We dotted all sorts of pumpkins around the place, some of which were expertly carved by Conor. We created a whole Halloween space with decorations for the kids to play in. We also added fairy lights and lace beam runners to really dial up the rustic look of the barn. The whole space looked incredibly atmospheric and with a surprising magical Halloween touch. As soon as we arrived and pulled back the curtain into the main barn, it literally took my breath away.
Personal Touches We wanted the beauty of the barn to speak for itself. We used lots of family photographs from our own home to add a personal touch, and had a video and photo slideshow of childhood moments and memories playing throughout the day. I think every member of our family was included in these in some way, so no one was left unscathed. When it came to wedding cakes, we were lucky enough to have talented bakers in the family, so the cakes were all a family affair. Conor’s mum made the official wedding fruit cake and my cousin Deirdre made us a chocolate cake and a carrot cake, not a crumb was left by the end of the night.
Highlight of the day The most incredible moment for me was on the altar during the ceremony as we said our vows. It felt as though we were the only two people in the room and we could feel the importance of that moment so strongly. Conor’s highlight was their time together, just the two of them, before going to the chapel, and after the ceremony driving up to Larchfield. As a couple, the best moment of the day was when all our family and friends gathered round for the final song, Toto’s Africa, the perfect prelude to our honeymoon in Cape Town
