A Wedding At Molly’s Yard
Unconventional and informal in all of the best ways, this fun-loving couple celebrated their wedding day by returning home to Belfast be surrounded by their nearest and dearest.
The Venue We have been living in New Zealand for over four years now and when it came to working out the logistics of where to get married - we decided that Belfast was the only possible place! It is where both our families live and where we both met as teenagers. It was quite challenging arranging the wedding from New Zealand but we had a good idea of what we wanted and got lots of help from family. We really wanted somewhere close to the city centre that would accommodate our party of 28 comfortably, but also somewhere small enough that the ceremony would still feel intimate - The Ulster Museum’s Belfast Room was perfect for this. We hired out Molly’s Yard for the evening, it was perfect and just what we wanted, intimate, cosy with warm lighting and the food was just delicious!
The Wedding Vibe An intimate and cosy city winter wedding. I loved the idea of creating something very special with our flowers too. The beautiful floral ceremony circle created by Gill at Flowers by Mee just blew us away - Gill is truly talented. Everyone made comments on how beautiful it looked during our ceremony.
Highlight of the day Coming home to celebrate with family and loved ones - despite the wind and rain. We had considered eloping somewhere hot and tropical, but we came to the realisation that having family there on the day was the most important thing to us. Being home and having my eldest sister conducting the service was very special - it was intimate and very personal. I was both laughing and crying (good tears) throughout.
Advice Stay true to yourselves and plan for the day that you both want and do what makes you both happy!
