How To Get Glowing Skin

For me, the most important part of a make-up is the skin. It doesn’t matter how well you’ve blended your eyeshadow, or how groomed your brows are; if your skin isn’t radiant then it doesn’t matter.

Getting into a daily cleansing routine is paramount to healthy skin – deep cleansing at night to remove make-up, followed by nourishing serums and an eye cream will help to ensure your skin gets a chance to recover while you sleep. But there are a few extra steps you can take each week to really boost your skin’s luminosity.

The obvious moves like drinking more water, eating healthily and getting enough sleep undoubtedly contribute to your skins appearance, but removing the upper layer of dull, dead skin cells is the quickest and easiest way to give your skin some radiance. It reveals all the new and younger skin underneath, and encourages your skin to regenerate - this also helps to soften lines, and decrease the appearance of scaring from blemishes.

Exfoliation has moved on from facial scrubs. Enzyme and acid exfoliation is the way forward! It sounds like it would be harsher on your skin than a scrub, but it’s actually more gentle, and way more effective. A lot of the formulations are made up from lactic and glycolic acids, or natural fruit acids from citrus fruits. They are very gentle, and just nibble away at the loose dead skin cells.

My favourite has been around for a while but it never disappoints, Ren Glycolactic Radiance Renewal Mask. It’s a gel-like texture that only needs to be left on for 15 minutes or so. For something a little stronger, Sunday Riley Good Genes can be worn on your skin overnight under your moisturiser. It not only brightens, but clarifies and protects your skin too. For a quicker fix, exfoliation pads are great. Saturated in an exfoliating fluid, you just swipe over the skin after cleansing and follow up with your favourite moisturiser - instant, and no need to rinse! I really like Pixi Glow Peel Pads, or a more potent pad would be Nip + Fab Glycolic Fix Night Pads Extreme.

A crucial thing to remember when exfoliating, is to follow it up with a hydrating serum or moisturiser. You always treat, then nourish. Follow these steps and you’ll definitely have people talking about how radiant you were on your wedding day.
