Bridal Beauty Count Down
With just weeks to go until my own Big Day', I thought I’d share my bridal beauty regime as the weeks are counting down! My brides always ask for tips on how to get their skin in good nick - and let’s face it, you want to look and feel AWESOME! So, let’s begin…
At this stage, it’s not too late to start looking at your skin care routine. Some brides are on it from the minute they get engaged and book in for courses of monthly facials, but I think the most important weapons in your arsenal are your daily cleanser and moisturiser. Facials are a LOVELY treat, and absolutely will help get your skin in order, but unless you’re complementing your facials with daily facial TLC, it’s a bit like going to the gym once a month…a little pointless.
Look at The Budget (yes, it gets capital letters, and will be something you talk about at least once a week throughout your planning!), and work out whether you can afford facials (costs can vary from £30-£100 plus). If so, go for it and enjoy! But also factor in a few pounds for a decent cleanser, eye cream, moisturiser and night serum.
A lot of facial washes are great for using in the shower, and while they will clean your skin, they won’t necessarily cleanse off your make-up. You want to invest in an oil or balm to remove make-up in the evenings, and keep your facial washes for the morning. I really like Emma Hardie Moringa Cleansing Balm or Caudalie Make-up Removing Cleansing Oil. These will work to balance your skin too so are great for all skin types.
The skin around our eyes is very thin, and is the first area to start showing the signs of ageing. Most fine lines though are caused by dehydration, so use a hydrating eye cream to plump, such as Clinique Pep-Start Eye Cream, or Kiehls Creamy Eye Treatment with Avacado.
Depending on your skin type, your daily moisturiser should target your main concern. I have dry skin and also want to combat the first signs of ageing, so I like to use Ren V-Cense Youth Vitality Day Cream, or Darphin Ideal Resource. Finally, an overnight serum or oil will work wonders on your skin as they are highly concentrated and penetrate to the deeper layers of your skin. I like to use something that will hydrate and calm my skin at the same time (it can get a bit spotty from time to time and can also be a little sensitive). I LOVE Kiehls Midnight Recovery, and also Nude Advanced Renewal Overnight Repair Mask.
Buy what you can afford, but most importantly, KEEP TO A DAILY ROUTINE MORNING AND NIGHT! You’ll see a big change, and quickly, if you do.
